WRAPPED on Bicultural!
As an Asian-American filmmaker with every sense of underrepresentation for my Filipino heritage, I could not miss out on HBO's Visionaries Competition for Asian-Americans. Once I found out about it via a friend's Facebook post, I set out to shoot a short film based on a television pilot I had written a couple months prior. It was quite a pressing task to complete pre-production, principal photography, AND post-production in two months but we did it!
Bicultural is a story that reflects the deepest corridors of my heart. No exaggeration. This is a very special one to me. No, it's not an auto-biography (for those who have and will ask). It's just a story. A story derived from true emotional ties. As any creator would say, it's an extension of who we are. I don't want to say too much about the plot but here are some BTS shots from the set!
Some of our amazingly talented cast and crew!
Watching playback with Hunter Gulan, director of photography.
It was a blast working with this team. We were hard pressed with time but we pulled through! I'm so proud of us. I cannot wait to share this with all of you.
With love,
Rach.
